How social media affects self-perception
Social Media can negatively affect self-perception and mental health, especially when comparing ourselves to unrealistic images on social media. There are plenty of concrete examples of extreme body images and why we should be careful about what we are watching there. Why not try to look at your Instagram or another social network. On which you spend the most time and not go through the list of people we follow.
After going through the list, we can register various positive, anxious, and negative emotions. Looking at the profile of our childhood friend, the corners of our mouths may arise, and we will be happy with a photo from a holiday with her boyfriend. On the other hand, the profile of a LA model may be rather harmful. A perfect shot of a round figure in a swimsuit on the roof of a skyscraper somewhere in California, with an ideal boyfriend in a perfect car in a perfect outfit, will not bring us too good feelings towards ourselves, at least to most of the people.
What we see on social media is not a reality—images of ours. Favorite influencers or celebrity’s pictures can be edited and adequately planned. The algorithm, which tries to keep us on the network for as long as possible, mainly gives us the most-watched, most popular photos and posts added by influential people, who are put under similar pressure to perfection, thanks to this cycle. The problem situation begins with the fact that Instagram users tend to post only those pictures where they find their appearance attractive under pressure on their body image. It forces others to do the same.

We don't have to lie that we just draw inspiration; we enjoy looking at superficial and lovely things. When we try to realize how we really feel about it, for example, we sort our list of people we follow, we are relieved and only begin to feel motivated.
